Florida: Collier County Rejects CDC and NIH Funding

March 18, 2023 | Florida: Collier County Rejects CDC and NIH Funding | In a big victory, health freedom advocates in Florida got together to educate their county commissioners and influence an important public health policy.  The result of their efforts was that the Collier County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously (5-0) to reject a $1.2 million-dollar grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH), including returning $167,000 that was already spent.

Medical Freedom Subcommittee member Beth Sherman said, “We don’t want any involvement from the government or the CDC. They’re not an elected body and I don’t think the citizens of the county should have to follow any directives that they request.”

Getting involved at the local level is important and can make a big difference in influencing policies.
